2013 COPO Camaro Engine Lineup Announced


2012 COPO CamaroIf you missed your chance to get your hands on one of the limited production COPO Camaros, your second chance is at hand.  Chevrolet Performance is making another 69  car run of the pavement pounding F-bodies for 2013 and this year there are some great new engine combos for hard core drag racers who will no doubt appreciate this year's line of powerplants for the COPO models.

The popular 427 returns since more than half of last year's 69 examples were ordered with the big 425 HP V-8. A new entry-level LS-based 325 HP 350 rated at 325 horsepower becomes the base engine along with an LS-based 396-cu.-in. big-block engine, making the same 375 horsepower it did under the hood of the original 1969 Camaros. New for 2013 is a standard Holley EFI controller on all configurations, replacing the Holley carburetors every 1969 COPO Camaro came with as standard equipment. All engines are hand-built LS-based powerplants so racers will have no problem tuning them.

Augmenting these new engine packages are the 2-speed automatic transmission carried over from the 2012 model, there will be an optional manual transmission available for  2013 cars, allowing you to slam gears manually.

Each configuration fits a wide variety of NHRA Stock Eliminator classes and with a portfolio of engines as diverse as the COPO, the 427, 396, and 350 allow the car to run in any Stock Eliminator class from E all the way up to AA, needing only curb weight adjustments for each configuration to see itself in any of three classes.

The 2013 models will have a revised front-end appearance sporting halogen headlamps and the Chevrolet Accessories body-color Heritage grille, as well as updated optional COPO graphics.
