Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters - Johnson Lifters Guide
Hydraulic flat tappet lifters are still a large part of performance aftermarket lifter demand. Also known as a hydraulic lifters, they are designed to maintain zero valve clearance in an internal combustion engine.

A plunger inside the lifter is pressurized by oil to self adjust and maintain zero lash. Hydraulic lifters compensate for valve train expansion tolerances, allowing the valve train to function with zero clearance and quieter operation. Hydraulic flat tappet lifters also offer increased longevity over solid lifters.

Johnson Lifters offers the most precision hydraulic flat tappet lifters available. They are manufactured from a proprietary hardenable cast iron formula for extreme wear resistance.
  • Johnson hydraulic flat tappet lifters have mirror-finished cam faces.
  • Highest concentration of acicular carbides across the entire cam face.
  • Cold forged extra-long piston, precision ground & fitted for precise leak down & pump up rate.
  • High flow disc style quick reacting check valve for better reaction at higher RPM.
  • Precision oil metering for proper oiling to the rocker arms without sacrificing oil pressure.
